5 Reasons to Try Chair Massage
I learned the basics of chair massage while I was in massage school but admittedly did not feel like it was my strong suit compared to table massage. There are some undeniable differences between massaging someone in a chair over a table, and I did not have enough practice with folks on the chair to offer the same type of quality service as I could in a table massage.

What #OscarsSoWhite Helped Me See (+2020 Oscar talk)
With all that has being going on this week in the nation, I feel like I might be one of the few who is looking forward to the upcoming Oscars this Sunday. “Looking forward,” might be a little too strong of a description given some of the problems with the Oscars that we’ll get into, but I love movies and will be watching nonetheless.

Put On A Happy Face
“Your blog posts are so sad,” is something that I have heard a good amount since I have started making my writing public on BraveNewLove. The statement is true - many of the things I discuss on in my blog posts can be viewed as sad or unsettling, but a big part of the message of living authentically involves openly discussing aspects that shame or society would tell you to hide. A big part of the message of BraveNewLove is that it is OK to share these aspects of our lives so

Love, Trust & Boundaries
I’ve received a whole lot of support from folks of all sorts since I started BraveNewLove and I am thankful for any person who takes the time to read - seriously, I’m not a big reader so I think it’s a big deal - anything that I have written. I’ve also received a fair amount of what I’m considering feedback on how to improve in terms of what I discuss and how I discuss it. I’m super thankful for those folks who have the courage to reach out with their opinions. One area has b

The Church of Anne Lamott
‘Show yourself,’ is the BraveNewLove theme as we start 2020 and while yes, it is the second most popular song from Frozen 2, it perfectly summarizes why BraveNewLove was started initially. The idea that good things will come by living authentically and engaging others through discussions of life, wellness and faith. One area that I sometimes struggle to discuss is my faith. I’ve debated with myself whether I even wanted to include the concept of faith in BraveNewLove, but ul

Troubled Waters
‘Show yourself,’ is the BraveNewLove theme as we start 2020 and while yes, it is the second most popular Elsa song from Frozen 2, it perfectly summarizes why BraveNewLove was started initially. The idea that by showing our authentic selves to the world around us we will be able to create space for all folks to live a wellness centered life. I initially debated about including this post due to the fact that the inputs (or what I use as the examples) are all political in nature

Abomination
I’ve been carrying the idea for this post in my head for a few months now. If I’m being honest, the initial notion was planted back in the fall of 2018 when a stranger struck up a conversation with me on my way into the office, but I will get into that here in a bit.

Thoughts on Coming Out
Today is National Coming Out Day in the United States. Last year, and the year prior, I posted something specific about my coming out story, or why I felt like it was important to be public about my sexuality for visibility sake.

Sinner (Pt 1.) | Hustlers Review
I like movies. So much so that I considered creating a blog just focusing on movie reviews, but that didn’t seem to make sense and have nearly as much of a purpose as BraveNewLove once this idea hit. That said, I do very much believe that movies reflect life and influence culture that does have an impact on us.

Heal Me
One thing that caught me off guard shortly after starting massage school was how common the term “healing” would present itself in the world of massage. This can range from using a fairly harmless phrase like “healing hands” to folks with massage licenses straight up claiming that they are a healer - Lance Pyburn, licensed massage therapist, healer, energy magician, etc.

Why Pride?
My last two posts have been Pride related and focused on the joy of having gay pride , and what I believe gay pride is . Those posts have been the catalyst of some really interesting conversations with friends and family who read along. These conversations have been in good faith and with a curiosity that has yielded some great questions in order to gain a better understanding of the gay experience. They have made me think and have challenged me on so many levels that I thoug

Heyo Cis!
In case you missed it, June is Pride month. I write that a bit facetiously because it seems like each year the presence of Pride season becomes more visible and apparent. The massive amounts of companies who are showing support for Pride by putting their products in rainbow containers or creating rainbow logos has definitely become a running joke in gay communities.

Run Toward the Light
Earlier this year I participated in my fourth Texas Independence Relay (or TIR for short). The race is a 200+ mile run from Gonzales, to Houston, TX where teams of 12 rotate so that there is always a runner on the road with each leg ranging between 3-7 miles. I have learned by now that when you say that you have done something like that, you get many types of reactions but they all usually fall into either the “Wow, that is awesome,” or “Wow, that sounds terrible/stupid,” cam

#Holdtight
Remember when you had a substitute teacher in grade school? They would typically roll in one of those TVs on those strange rolling shelves they were kept on and you'd probably be watching a video that may or may not have anything to do with what you were studying.
